Little Bit dressed up as, well Little Bit. Doesn't she look cute though?

I voted! On the penultimate day of early voting, and the line was long! Still, I am glad we went. Who knows what it will be like on Election Day.
I actually got in trouble for taking this shot. Apparently, you aren't allowed to take a picture. There were no signs about it, but I put away my camera anyway. I didn't want to give them ANY reason to not count my vote.
Now we just wait and see what everybody else decides.

I love the way these delicate flowers look. And so do the butterflies! This butterfly weed is actually a volunteer as I had planted its mom in the other bed.

My tires decided to shred themselves. Fortunately, it just made a loud noise, and I was able to get home safely. The cars strike again!

300/366
I cannot believe we have made it to 300!! Wow. This project is nearly done. I can't say I've been entirely faithful the whole time, but at least I have posted 1 pic per day.
Now I need 66 more days of inspiration... we're nearly there.
And a note on this picture... These are socks for Little Bit. She has been stealing my hand knit socks to wear, so I thought I'd avoid doing my Stitches East homework by making her some socks of her very own. I'm calling these My Favorite Things socks because Little Bit's favorite things are bubbles, balls and quarters, all of which are round, so why not choose a lovely round cable for your very first hand knit sock?
I'm hoping she likes them.

Gifts from Little Bit. She really wanted to pick the tomatoes, but I told her they weren't done cooking yet. So she picked these berries off our nandina plants. Not quite the same as tomatoes, but still fun to harvest.

I can haz tomatoes?
Oh yes! There are many! I've counted 25, and then lost count. It seems my tomatoes are making up for a fruitless spring. Now if we can just make it through the frost warnings for the next few days.

Inspired by these collections, I decided to record the treasures Little Bit picked up on our walk to the mailbox. And no, it wasn't that long. She's just a collector.
I love how everything is new and wonderful to a toddler.

What is camping without a little WIP action? This hat really flew off the needles. It is an improvised design for my sister. I think it looks right at home with the trees.

There was a little old-timey festival at the campsite this weekend that featured old timey type things - one of which was spinning. Looks like fun!

It's camping weekend! The weather has really cooled down, so at least we'll be cooler instead of hotter. Little Bit had a blast. She loved being able to sleep outside.

The ever uninteresting i-cord in its natural state.
I'm nearly done with Little bit's big girl pants, I've just got to finish the I cord tie...

Autumn socks are finished! I am really pleased with the way these turned out. And I really liked working with the yarn, Louet Gems Fingering. It has a tight twist that really made the stitches stand out.
I've got the charts worked out for the acorns, leaves, and acorn/leaf combo, I just need to finish out the actual construction instructions (ha ha, say that fast 10 times).
I think these may be my favorite socks yet.

Blue Skies
those blue skies are ahead
blue skies in my head
All the town clocks
and marching soldiers socks
I say let's go, let's go
to this magic wonder show
And I'm walking,
and crawling,
and so tired I'm insane
so tour-on and sing
High high eye I
High eye I see
Blue skies are in my head
said blue skies are up ahead
Said blue skies are in my head
said blue skies are up ahead
Beach wood
says he'd like-you-in-the-street
Said like-you-in-the-street
in the lullabies
Just when she thinks it's
like-you-in-the-street
said like-you-in-the-street
in the lullabies
You can go just where she's going...
Blue skies are in my head
said blue skies are up ahead
Blue skies
Blue skies are up ahead

Another gorgeous sunrise. I love the flowers the japanese maiden grass put up in the fall. They are so soft and feathery. And they look fantastic against the beautifully painted sky.

We went to our local botanic garden plant sale today and got some lovely specimens. The butterflies adore this plant. I can't wait to get it in the ground!

The sky is on fire! (pertinent, perhaps with the doomsday feel of the news lately).
Since Little Bit has been sleeping more, I have actually been getting out of bed voluntarily, and catching the sunrise. This morning was a particularly beautiful specimen.

My second sock. This one I've combined the two versions I made of the stitch pattern for what I think will be a fun option: leaves and acorns.

Paying the bills. What's funny is that I never write checks any more, so how does she know what's supposed to happen with the checks? Has paying bills become part of the human instinct?

Little Bit has learned how to climb out of her pack 'n play, and so it is time to get her a big girl bed. Here is a shot of the before. I don't have a good picture of the after, but I'll take one for the next set.
Sleeping in her own bed, in her own room has seemed to solve the night-waking problem.
And she even stays in her bed! I can't believe how grown up she is getting.

"Thank you!"
When Little Bit is done eating, she takes everything on her tray, holds it up, and says "thank you." But, instead of it coming off as a polite thank you, its more of a presumptive thank you. It's quite funny :)

Today was an interesting day. About mid-morning, this little beagle showed up at our front door making a racket. When I opened the door to see what was going on, she came right in. I managed to get her in the backyard and call her owner. But he was at work until 6, so we had a beagle for a day. While she was incredibly cute, she was quite loud. I must admit I was quite glad when her owner came to get her.
If we were going to get a dog, it'd definitely NOT be a beagle. Sorry.
