I got my first why question from my daughter today.
"Mommy, is it time to get up?"
"Not yet."
"Why, Momma?"
"Because the alarm hasn't gone off yet."
That was it. Nothing terribly profound, and yet, when she asked me why, it was like my whole body noticed. Asking why is a big milestone - it means that understanding what goes on is no longer enough, its time to start exploring the causes. I hope she never stops asking why.
